Living Unhurried #74

"It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are."
– e. e. cummings
Many of us dream of the future - of how we'll live "unhurried" once we retire and finally have some time for what we really want to be doing. But what would your "older" self advise your current self in regard to living and choices? Below is an exercise I found in The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron. Take a few moments over the next few days and work through this exercise...see what you might discover about what your soul is longing for and/or fearing...

"Describe yourself at 80.
What did you do at 50 that you really enjoyed? Be specific.
Now write yourself a letter from your 80 year old to your current age.
What would you tell yourself?
What interests would you urge yourself to pursue?
What dreams would you encourage?"

  • What did you discover about yourself in this exercise?
  • Is your soul inviting you to make some mid-course corrections?
  • How do you feel about your letter to yourself? What excites you? What concerns you?
  • Who can you share your discoveries with?

Unhurry up!
