UnhurryUp into Easter: A Lenten Pilgrimage

Join me on an unhurried Lenten pilgrimage...Ash Wednesday, the kickoff of Lent, seems to come up and surprise me almost every year. It is a time that I want to be intentional to settle my soul and refocus my heart, but I am so easily swept into the busyness and hurry of everyday living. So I've created a devotional journey just for US!

This devotional is truly inspired and full of the pilgrimage spirit of Lent in the way that Paula uniquely expresses it. As a capable guide, she gives each person the latitude to make their unhurried journey throughout this season. I'm grateful for Paula sharing this with me and the world.
~Sister Mary Jo Chaves, OSF – Franciscan Spiritual Center, Milwaukie OR.

Each day you will be invited to interact with 4 simple sections that help you settle your soul and respond to God's love. You will be able to:

Lean into God's love - quieting yourself and focusing on Him

Evaluate honestly how you are as you come into the space

Notice what stirs in your heart as you interact with a story, a scripture, a picture, a song.

Trust God to open your heart to respond freely to His love

Sound good?

Several hundred people from around the world participated in the unhurried Lenten pilgrimage last year! Here's what two of them wrote:

In the midst of our frantic lives, it is so valuable to learn what it means to truly still yourself, to quiet your soul and be attentive to the nudging of the Holy Spirit. Participating in this Lenten meditation series helped me to learn that, and facilitated a deeper understanding of the season. I was pushed to be more honest with myself and with God. It was beautiful to then be able to share my experiences with others doing the same meditation and to hear their insights and encounters in return. I'm looking forward to participating again this year!   ~Hannah Tweet, Whitworth College, Spokane, WA.

Last year I was privileged to participate in the Lenten devotionals that Paula designed. Those times of reflection opened the door to a deeper revelation of God's love and care for me. As a busy mom and wife it is hard to find routines that allow for quiet reflection. However, I so loved that daily email that I looked forward to getting up a few minutes earlier than my kids each day to spend 15 minutes praying and listening. I can't wait for Ash Wednesday!  ~Tiffany Kerns, Springfield, OR

THIS YEAR there are two different ways to participate

True to the nature of pilgrimage - there is no "right" way to walk it...and there are different routes that will appeal to different people. We've tried to create a few options for you on your Lenten pilgrimage this year:

The Daily Email Pilgrimage

FIRST, like last year, you may have the option of signing up to receive daily emails in your inbox. This Lenten journey includes various forms of multimedia - links to youtube videos, video reflections from Paula as well as some original songs and guided reflections. Here's a little invite to the daily email version of the pilgrimage below.

In the email version, you may also buy gift and/or group subscriptions for your friends and family (and group subscriptions will be at a discounted rate!) To order the email version of the Lent Pilgrimage CLICK HERE>>

The Downloadable PDF Pilgrimage

SECOND, this year we are also offering a downloadable pdf version of the Lenten Pilgrimage. Some people prefer to have less of the razzle dazzle and distractions of all that time on the computer!

If that's you - consider the pdf version of the Lenten pilgrimage. If you download it to your tablet or iPad, you can open this in your reading app document of choice. If you own a e-book reader (e.g. kindle, nook, etc) then you can follow the instructions on how to transfer and/or email the document to your ebook. Or, if you want to print out 218 pages - you can dowload it to your computer and print it out.

Here's what some people have said about the Lenten pilgrimage:

Some people have a presence that you instinctively know will be life-giving for your soul. Paula is one of the few who do. I knew that to be the case before we ever shared a conversation... and I continued to be blessed by Paula's pursuit of God. She is the real deal!

I encourage you to let Paula lead you in this Lenten Pilgrimage. She lives what she writes. She knows the way. All who walk with her will be blessed!

~Jim Cofield – co-founder of Crosspoint Ministries , Louisville, KY

You will find few people who provide more insightful and sensitive guidance in developing 'spiritual practices' that foster inner-intimacy with Jesus than Paula Gamble. Through the help she provides you will only grow deeper in a visceral walk with Jesus; one that will not only change your life, but the many lives you touch every day of your life --all for HIS glory and the spread of HIS virtues.
~Rev. Dr. Byron Spradlin President, Artists in Christian Testimony Intl, Franklin, TN

We are a generation of people who continually teeter on the brink of overload. We have an abundance of many good things. What Paula has taught me over the years is the art of letting go. She demonstrates through her life and her words the beauty found in the opening of hands and heart. Such vulnerability causes a sifting of the soul. When we take on such a posture as this, much good slips through the fingers leaving space to receive. It is in the simplicity of releasing, waiting, lingering that we receive anew that which is true and lasting. This is the gift of the set-aside season of Lent.
May this devotional guide chart a reflective path to the cross for many willing pilgrims.
Aloha,
